Tuesday, May 10th - Tour Eiffel

Isabelle and Allie wanted to see the Eiffel Tower...and to obtain a miniature replica for their collection. We stood in a very very long line (of course) and Juliette had decided that once and for all that she had enough of standing in that very very long line (we almost walked out of that line) to go to the second landing.

Why does the Eiffel tower look crooked in this picture???

Amazing panoramic views of Paris!

This wrought iron tower weighs 7000 tons and is 1040 ft high! It was built for the 1889 world Exhibition. Apparently according to our Frommer's guidebook that it was set to be demolished but since it was the tallest structure in Europe at the time, it was a perfect place to place a radio antenna and so it saved it. Eiffel also helped design the framework for the Statue of Liberty.
