On Saturday, May 7th
Looking outside our bedroom window.
Surrounded by vineyards and pine trees.
We took a train to Bordeaux and rented a van there. It was the one rainy day the whole 10 days we were traveling! We had hopes of walking around the historic and world heritage city, but decided to continue on to avoid the weather. We stayed in the Sainte-Croix-Du-Mont area in the beautiful Lamarque Chateaux. It is near Cadillac about 50 km south of Bordeaux. It was very much in the French countryside where English is spoken very infrequently and villages become desolate around noon and certainly on Sundays. As a matter of fact, many famous Chateauxs are completely closed for visitors on Sunday. We had the villa practically to ourselves as they have a bed and breakfast for 2 rooms which we rented. The owners (who spoke only French) also lived there. The son, Thierry was able to communicate a bit with us. The breakfast was delicious with chocolate pastries, bread and homemade jam.
