304.366 {2016}

Getting into the Halloween spirit by carving our pumpkins that we picked out previously at the church's "patch".  Jamie and I end up carving the majority while the girls scoop out the "guts".  Eve also enjoys the taste of pumpkin too which is why our completed project found a place on the deck railing!

295.366 {2016} Arches National Park

We had breakfast at the Red Cliffs Lodge before we packed the car and saw a little more of Arches.  The hotel was very nice but quite a drive from Moab.  We had unbelievable views here of the Colorado River.
We just can't believe our Utah National Park adventure is coming to an end!  We have all been amazed at the beauty of southern Utah and how diverse it is.  We are thankful for togetherness, our desire to travel and see this beautiful country we live in, and for the sunny skies and starry nights and everything in between.

Ravens would screech in the parks and you see them often gliding in and out of the rock formations.
Devils Garden Trail is one of the longest trails in Arches National Park.  You can see many arches and views from this trail.  We only hiked for a few miles.  It was extremely crowded in the park today and difficult to find parking.

Landscape Arch is 290 feet and is the longest arch in the park.  Slabs of sandstone have fallen in the last 25 years.  As the parks are ever changing with erosion and weather, the arches and natural formations we see have a lifespan.  What we see here today will be different when the girls bring their children here in the future.
This is the beginning of the primitive trail leading to the Double O Arch.

We hiked down to the Pine Tree Arch and Tunnel Arch before leaving.

We stopped in Moab at the Sweet Cravings Bakery + Bistro.  It had delicious sandwiches and great desserts and cookies!  We drove 4 hours to Provo to see our friends who moved there last year.  It was great to catch up with them and their adorable family!  We then traveled on to Salt Lake City and stayed near the airport.  On Saturday, we flew out early back to Indy!

294.366 {2016} Canyonlands National Park, Moab

We got coffee at Eklecticafe in Moab!  Great place for food and drinks!

It is about a 30 minute drive from Moab to Canyonlands National Park.
The view from the Island in the Sky visitor center at Canyonlands National Park stretches on for miles.  It is quite an amazing sight.  Every park is so unique!
 Shafer Canyon Overlook

The park is huge and is divided into 3 different land districts, Island in the Sky, Needles, and the Maze.  We mainly drove through the Island in the Sky and did a few short hikes.  The Needles sounds amazing and we hope to see that area some day.  If we had more time I would have loved to contact an outfitter to do a rafting trip on the river.  The Maze is remote and difficult to access.  I might leave that up to extreme adventurers!

 Mill Canyon Dinosaur Tracksite

 Red Cliffs Lodge

We had a bit of time to rest and explore the grounds of the hotel.  It is so pretty here!  Juliette especially loved the swings.
We took the Dan Mick guided Jeep tour through the slick rock outside of Moab.  The trail took us on Hell's Revenge which is an aptly named trail.  It was a jarring ride!
Jamie inspecting some dinosaur tracts up close.
We watched the sunset from here.  So gorgeous!
