{This is Our Life} 9.52 {Out of the shadows}

home-schooled

Allie decided on her career path as a teacher at the ripe old age of 3 and has such amazing energy and endless patience as "Miss Miller".  I know Grandma Miller is smiling up in heaven watching her!  Her student, Juliette loves to participate and will bring this workbook to Allie and ask her to "teach you" (she is referring to herself).  I love it!

 Juliette's writing skills and her accuracy in tracing at just age 2 seriously amaze me.

{This is Our life} 8.52 {Wild Card...it's up to you}

I thought this week would be a good one to show case a bit of the art work that Isabelle, Alexandria and Juliette have done in the past few months.  Isabelle and Alexandria go to "Myart" which is a weekly art class.  They absolutely LOVE it!  Below is work done by Isabelle.

 This was done during a painting session at home.  She put in the corner, "your photogvering is great".  :)

Below is work done by Allie.  There isn't a day that goes by that she is writing, illustrating or working on a piece of art.

 A book that she wrote and illustrated.  (inspired by "Pete the Cat" obviously)

 An example of a drawing that she would do at home.

Work below done by Juliette

 She LOVES to paint!

 She also loves to draw faces.

Breckenridge

During a long President's weekend Jamie and I joined our great friends, Chris and Vicki for a ski trip to Breckenridge, Colorado!  We had a wonderful time with lots of laughs and good food...and we squeezed some skiing in there too!  We stayed at Grand Lodge on Peak 7 which was a beautiful condo with amazing views of the mountain and many amenities.  Our girls stayed home with one of their favorite sitters, Stephanie and they were very good for her.  The picture below is actually one of Jamie and I on one of our first ski trips together in 1999!  The one below it was taken at the restaurant "Blue River Bistro" in Breckenridge on Sunday night.  One of my favorite meals there!
Getting our first glimpse of Breckenridge!  We flew into Denver and it took about 2 hours by car to arrive.
After we checked in, we took the gondola to Main street.  We stayed right at the base of peak 8 which was about 10,000 feet elevation.
Getting off the gondola.  This guy is a ski instructor by the looks of his blue jacket but have not a clue who he is!  I just liked the sign...Welcome!  :)

Irony

Jamie didn't know I took this picture (at the encouragement of Vicki).  He was answering a text and leaned up against this business.  Ha!
 The first afternoon we relaxed and made our way to Breckenridge brewery.  We took Diamox to help with altitude sickness and so the beer unfortunately tasted terrible!  It was fun to walk along main street and just take in the atmosphere.
The cute and very quaint town of Breckenridge.

At the Grand Lodge (Peak 7).
Sunrise over the Rockies.

 All 4 of us took a lesson the first day we skied.  We all split up in different groups but had lunch together.
 This was the 2nd day.  Vicki and I skied individually except for one run which we did together while Chris and Jamie took a lesson.  Jamie joined me for a couple of runs after lunch.

 It was soooooo cold that day!  I think the high was 6 but the winds were wicked.

I enjoyed Lift 5 so I could marvel at the skills of the snowboarders and skiers doing half-pipes and jumps.

 If anyone wants to hire me for photography I will gladly accompany you to take pictures if I get to ski! :)
 This is skiing down a bit from the Colorado lift chair.  They had snow that morning and the clouds were lifting.  Did I mention that every time I took off my gloves I thought my fingers were going to fall off from the freezing cold?  The highest elevation I was skiing at was around 11,500 feet.  We all felt effects from the altitude.  My hands and lips were tingly and also I was very short of breath walking up stairs and hills.  I felt "off" but think that a few more days would have helped!

 One of the peaks where you can see the ski runs.  This is taken in town.

 On Monday night we went into town to buy some souvenirs, try out the crepes and have dinner.  We were all so sad that our vacation was ending!

Our beautiful sunrise on the way to the Denver airport.  A great vacation always leaves you wanting more, right?  It was such fun with super memories!!!
