Saturday March 13th

our birthday girl Allie spent her birthday with a trip to the Children's Museum and a cake adorned with Disney princesses. We had a cold, relentless rain all day but had fun celebrating with our big 3 year old!

The girls love to play at the children's portion of the Chihuly exhibit.

Looking up from the lower level.

Allie is 3!!!!!!!!

Enjoying the Barbie exhibit dress-up area.

Isabelle really likes this area, dressing up and then prancing down the "runway".

Loving the spring break slide at the Children's museum!

Down the slide they go...

opening up a few gifts...

Allie turned 3 on March 13th!!!!! It truly seems like yesterday when she was a baby! It is amazing how quickly time goes.

Her favorite snack: candy, chocolate, or more candy...but since she doesn't get that every time she asks for it (which is often), she enjoys apples and peanut butter, yogurt and cheese.

Her favorite past time: playing princesses or dress-up

She is usually found: wearing high heels

She absolutely loves to: color and play outside

Her best friend is: Isabelle

She really enjoys: her teachers and time at "Parents Day Out"

She likes to: sing and dance.

Allie started swimming...

lessons last week. She was so excited to start but that was short lived as she spent about 90% of the lesson clinging and screaming to her instructor. This week it was much better. She did cry a bit but actually let the instructor, Miss Karen, take her in the water willingly. This swimming suit is an 18 month size and the bottoms aren't even tight! She is too adorable though!

Isabelle playing her leapster and with Erwin observing.

The "orange" cat prior to his bath. It is is faint in this picture but orange Gatorade will even stain fur. Erwin tolerated his bath fairly well. I thought Isabelle was going to burst with excitement, she was squealing and jumping during his soak while Erwin was ready to bolt the minute that we let up our death-grip on him. I marveled at the variety and amount of "cat shampoo" at Petsmart. There were far more "leave in shampoos" then the rinse-out kind...definitely for a reason.

Erwin has finally wised up and spends many days unreachable to his many admirers.

I should have never been bragging...

on how healthy my girls have been this winter. When one of my friends just got done telling me how they have been down and out with some ailment, I would think to myself...I am so lucky since my kids have been so well. It is like a curse. In a mere 8 days, Allie has had strep and then a GI bug of vomiting for 24 hours which she subsequently passed that on to her sister. So good to share! It is like the other week when I told my sister that I feel like the girls are so good and never get into major trouble so I don't have to keep a constant eye on them. Well, you know how that went last week (see below post, "New haircuts"). You always think you have infinite parenting skills that work and are successful, but kids always bring you down from the clouds and make you realize that a part of it is luck and most is out of your control.

Well...poor Isabelle had a doozy of a vomiting episode last night that definitely took a team approach to clean up...mainly because she not only got it EVERYWHERE...her hair, clothes, bedding, walls but she also threw up all over ERWIN!!! While listening to her wretch around 2:30 in the morning, I imagined the scene to be something out of the Exorcist but orange instead of green. So yes, Erwin is now an orange tinged cat and when Jamie gets home we get the pleasure of giving him his first bath. I can just dream about what fun that is going to be.

Even though the rain came this afternoon, we were able to enjoy a bit of the spring like weather this weekend at a park across the street. It was a complete muddy mess and had to avoid a few icy puddles but the girls loved it until Allie took a tumble and was head to toe covered in mud.

New haircuts!

The scene of the crime...

All of those pretty locks in the trash can.

Allie sporting her new partial half-mullet do.

I first spotted a long piece of hair in the upstairs hallway and assuming that it was an unfortunate mishap in taking out a twisted pony-tail, I picked it up and walked to throw it away and then I found another. Isabelle emerged from her room and I asked her about the hair and then if she cut it, she immediately burst into tears and wailed. Thinking that my problem was a small one I then found Allie covered with her OWN hair in the playroom. I ran my fingers through her hair to find the spots where she might have cut it when clumps came out! I asked her if she cut it herself or if it was Isabelle when she looked at me with a smirk and said that she was indeed the hair stylist and then she led me into her room where I found the scissors and a barbie brush and alot more hair! I didn't think that the damage was too bad as her hair is rather fluffy, but realized there are a few short pieces and a thin area that is cut close to her scalp! I learned my lesson and now am keeping the scissors hidden.
