This is the highest sand dune in Europe and measures 2 miles long, 550 ft wide and 384 ft high. According to our guidebooks it was only 114 ft high in 1855 and grows by 3 to 13 feet per year! It is near the city of Arcachon.
On top of the dune. The girls had a blast...running up the sides and then rolling back down again.
Juliette decided to eat a big mouthful of sand.
Looking at where we just walked up.
Beautiful views of the Atlantic and hang-gliders.
The stairs will take you close to the top. It was quite a climb and we decided not to trek the rest of the sandy distance to the top.
