163.365 Saint-Malo

 TGV antics

 We were able to catch the TGV from Lille to Rennes!  We then rented a van in Rennes and drove to beautiful Saint Malo.  Our flat was in Saint Servan and we could walk around the harbor to the walled city.  The place was just amazing and gorgeous, feet from the beach and water.

 This is taken outside the window.  The weather was in the 60s but the sun was very warm if you were shielded from the winds.

 We settled in and found a market for some groceries.  I made dinner while everyone else got to test out the beach.  It is so great to rent apartments in Europe where you can spread out and relax and live like a local.  

 After dinner we walked to the walled city of Saint Malo.  These views above are looking back at the beach and where our flat is.

 The walled city of Saint Malo.  Sadly 80% of this city was bombed in WWII.  They tried to use as much of the original buildings as they could when they rebuilt.

 Everytime we would walk through the tunnel, the girls would say, "it looks just like diagon alley" (from the Harry Potter movies).

 The region is famous for its creperies, cider, butter and toffees.

 I think almost every night we had ice cream.   This place was amazing and delicious with about every flavor you could think of.  Jamie especially enjoyed a chocolate orange "glace".  The ice cream was more like gelato, creamy, dense and full of flavor and so rich.

 This was a magical evening watching the sunset over this beautiful city and the water.  Just beautiful and serene.
