171.365 Our last day in Paris

We went on our last run to Paul's for their delicious baguettes, beignets, and chocolate croissants and were off to see the Musee de l'Orangerie.

 Running through the Tuileries Garden

On the main floor you can see the Water Lilies by Monet in 2 oval shaped rooms each with 4 canvases stretched around the walls.  The canvases are 6 feet tall and curved.  He intended the art (of his pond in the garden of Giverny) to be viewed this way.  You can see where the canvases were stitched together.  The longest one is 55 feet.
Juliette would get so excited to see glimpses of the Eiffel tower
The Luxor Obelisk in the center of the Place de la Concorde.

One of Juliette's most favorite forms of transportation, the Metro!  The first times on the underground in any city with small kids can make any parent nervous but the girls quickly have learned the ropes over the years and know exactly what to do as the run though the doors and find a seat or a pole to grab before the train is off.

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris (Sacre-Coeur Basilica) is a Roman Catholic Church.  It is located at the highest point in the city.  It was built in 1875 and finished in 1914.

Another view of Paris from Montmarte.

We took the funicular train up to Montmartre.  Many famous artists and musicians gathered here in the past.

The blocks are lined with artists (some of them better then others).  We like to purchase art from places we have traveled and so we picked a few pieces for our walls at home.
There were also many performers and sketch artists there as well.

After some coffee and ice cream (of course), we made it back by Metro to the Tuileries Garden and mourned our last day in Paris during our walk back to the flat.

Our last dinner out with some delicious food!

Such an fantastic trip filled with great memories!  Au revoir Paris!
