Every morning Jamie and I would walk the short distance and pick up bread, pastries, croissants and things from the market in the morning. I loved waking up early and walking the streets with the locals.
and occasionally a French dog salivating at the sausages at the meat market.
The flat was well equipped for children and had a corner with toys and puzzles.
Jamie has wanted to see Carnac for years and so off we went through small towns and country roads to see the menhirs there.
It was about a 3 hour drive.
Brittany is full of megalithic stones and stone rows.
The stones date from 4500 BC and there are more than 3000 stones here.
We were able to see the stones up close and take a tour (in French) but it was the only way that we could enter the area.
Juliette couldn't wait to leave the "rocks" and get back to the beach.
Typical countryside in Brittany. It is known for its delicious butter.
Dinner in Saint Malo that evening...
Mussels in cream sauce. So delicious!
Brittany is also famous for its cider.
That looks says it all. The girls love crepes! They have sweet crepes with many fillings and also savory galettes that are made with buckwheat flour.
After dinner we walked around the city and they had a band and dancing.
