We spent the night at the Yavapai Lodge and ate breakfast at their cafeteria. We were excited to see the Grand Canyon! We took the 2 mile long rim hike which had a great geology display along the trail on the types of rocks found and the age of the canyon. It was really eye opening!
Surprisingly we saw no wildlife besides this guy, lizards and birds!
The sidewalk literally is right next to the edge of the canyon. We all experienced a lot of anxiety at the number of people standing on the very edge, clearly walking over the rock barriers and sitting on the precipice and getting pictures. I really can't believe more people don't fall to their death here observing the number of people doing this. It really distracted us from enjoying ourselves here!
I was not prepared for the vastness of this place! I realize its big enough that you can see it from space but to be looking at it from so many angles was truly breath-taking!
Some of the overlooks did have fences.
We started to hike down the bright angel trail and were short on time but short on nerves too! It was busy and one misstep would be the last one you would take on much of the trail! We turned around but one day I hope to make the hike!
One of the seven natural wonders of the world! Truly a wonder!!!
We had a full day exploring the park and was truly remarkable.
We are now driving north to Page to opening the night.
A lot of our drive was through reservations and there were many stands on the side of the road. It was later in the day and so many were unoccupied but we did stop to by some hand-made jewelry and an ornament the next day.
Almost to Page!
