We woke up and started off on our travels to Southern Sweden to Ekebo.
We arrived during the afternoon and Alf and greeted us at the entrance. Alf and are the current owners of the property and graciously allowed us to tour the house and farm.
The ceilings were very low and the stairs small and steep.
A look out the window. The red vertical planks are a very typical Swedish look for houses.
Anders joined us shortly and we were able to see more of the property.
Standing in front of the house of where is great grandmother was born.
This other house was built by her father.
Alf and invited us to Fika at their house. We had cake and coffee and chatted some more with them.
We were then invited over to Anders house where they looked at pictures, albums and we had dinner. Eva-Britt Kjellson and her niece, Annie prepared a delicious meal. This is called a Smörgåstårta. It is a savory cake that has a mayonnaise type of filling, copious garnishing, eggs and is similar to a sandwich. The layers were made with a white bread. It was very rich and tasty.
I was pretty floored to see the resemblance of Jamie and his distant relative, Anders! WOW!
Letters that Hildur (Jamie's great grandmother) wrote back to family in Sweden after she moved to Iowa.
The girls playing a card game with Annie, who is Eva-Britt's niece. She was so kind to the girls!
