Juliette turns 9!!! What a place to celebrate another trip around the sun! Our sweet Swedish princess!
We walked through Gamla Stan to visit a few museums today.
We were so lucky to have nice weather and had fun checking out the harbor.
Our first stop was visiting the Historiska.
The girls could be Vikings for the day and were able to learn about the culture, do crafts and play. A learning exhibit on how to make bread.
Making tools with metal and fire.
Juliette trying her hand at archery.
A Viking game of knocking the other person off the pole with a stuffed bag.
The museum was a great collection of Viking and Swedish artifacts. We first took an English speaking tour to learn about the Viking way and visit some of the exhibits. First up...picture stones.
We saw loads of silver, coins and jewelry.
More swedish meatballs for lunch!
Having fun at the gift shop!
We still had more to see, but the Swedish History Museum was a great way to learn about the Viking period. It was also free!
The Vasa Museum
This museum houses a 17th century warship. It actually is one of the best preserved ships of its time. We learned that it sank on its maiden voyage in 1628. It was really incredible to see! The details were amazing, but the boat was poorly designed and basically blew over with a gust of wind in the sea.
Some of the crew that perished in the sinking.
More swans!
On another recommendation we visited the Vete-Katten which is an iconic and local Fika shop and established in 1928. A country that is in full support and has a name for a coffee break is a country that I love! We all tried different desserts and had some delicious coffee!
We did a lot of steps and walked a few more to find dinner sort of nearby our hotel. We waited a long time for a table and it got pretty high reviews but we gave it a thumbs down for meatball quality. They were super nice, had great beer and also gave us all some chocolate balls for Juliette's birthday! I hope you had an amazing time celebrating in Stockholm!
