6.11.2019

First we set off for the 3 dune challenge which involved hiking up the dunes and back down and getting glimpses of the lake in between the trees!  It was a beautiful sunny day in the 70s.

After the kids did an awesome job completing the 3 dune hike, we went to the beach and dipped our toes in the very cold lake while alternating burning our feet in the sand.

Allie sent out a survey of possible activities to do while they were here this week and this was the one thing that everyone voted "YES".  We set off in the morning with their tie-dye custom Camp Miller shirts and went to the Indiana Dunes National Park about 2 1/2 hours away near Chesterton, Indiana.  Being at the Dunes makes you feel like you have stepped into another state altogether with its endless sand and the lake that you can't see the other shore.  We had such a great day!

We left in the afternoon and went to the Albanese Candy factory.  We were able to see gummis being produced and watched a video as well.  The kids were given an allowance to spend at the candy store and they had so much fun taste-testing chocolates, candies and gummis to bring home.
