On Friday, we drove to the Northern Black Forest to the spa town of Baden-Baden seen above. Baden-Baden literally means Bath-Bath...and it is very famous for this and the Casino.


What does an American family do when faced with only a few more opportunities to see things in Europe???? Try to see it all in a weekend. I think we made a new record of how many countries we could be in during a week's time. Let's see...we came back from Malta on Tuesday...Jamie was in Switzerland on Thursday...we were in Germany...then went through Luxemberg on Sunday going to France and then coming back to Germany that evening. It seems impressive, but when you figure that going to Strassburg (France), it is the distance from Des Moines to Iowa City...Switzerland is about a 2 hour drive from Tuebingen and Austria is about 3 hours. It is pretty amazing that it is so close, but the countries themselves are dense with history, sights and culture. I am really going to miss it.
