Walking through the castle's tunnels.
Beautiful Heidelberg

We made a Saturday jaunt to Heidelberg. The city is apparently is one of Germany's biggest tourist draws. The pictures posted here are of Schloss Heidelberg, in our eyes the highlight of the city. This was once a Gothic-Renaissance fortress. The oldest remaining structures date from 1400. The castle was destroyed by French forces in 1693. The views were just amazing! It is trial and error traveling with our two little girls. We have realized that we must pack and have an itinerary the night before, and also to leave as early as possible in the morning. It is definately a learning experience! The trip to Heidelberg was challenging...both of the girls fell apart mid-trip on the train. I have learned a few useful phrases to use during these challenging times like "tut mir leid" (I'm very sorry), "Sie schreien gern" (They like to cry), and "Sie sind müde" (They are tired). I appreciate all of the sympathetic German glances my way and the occasional bribes of "bon-bons" that old ladies like to give Isabelle.
