Barcelona

We were invited to come to Spain by our dear friends, Rosi and Helmut and we carved out a week after the holidays and before Isabelle needed to go back to college to meet them at their family's holiday home.  We landed in Barcelona and although tired, checked into our hotel, Olivia Plaza Hotel (which was fantastic) and then had a quick lunch with sandwiches and cappuccino.

We then did the hop on and hop off tour with narration of Barcelona.  There were 2 routes so we did the red and then the blue route which took the rest of the day.  We didn't hop "off" at all as we didn't have time but there were so so many places we want to see when we come back to Barcelona.  It was a beautiful city.

Down by the harbor

The city was lit up at night with various Christmas decorations and lights throughout the streets!

Our hotel was near the Plaça de Catalunya and many stores and shops and extremely busy with pedestrians and traffic.

Our hotel recommended this tapas restaurant not too far from our hotel called, Ciutat Condal. Delicious!  We each ordered 2-3 dishes per the recommendation from the waiter and they kept coming out as they were out of the kitchen.  So much food!

The view outside of our hotel window.  They had an amazing breakfast included and then we took a car back to the airport to get our rental for the next few days.

The tile sidewalks.

A city rich with beauty, history and architectural significance we were sad to actually experience so little of it.  Although we were warned of pick-pockets we had a great time with kind, helpful people and felt very safe. Until next time, Barcelona!
