Let's just say the rental situation wasn't ideal. Our bigger van that I reserved was cancelled and so by a miracle we crammed into a small Opel.
The drive from Barcelona to Andorra was so pretty!
Border control. It was about 3 hours to drive to Andorra.
It is a tiny country in the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain. They speak Catalan and the capital is Andorra la Vella where we stayed. It is one of the smallest countries in Europe which is 468 sq km. It is the 16th smallest country by land and 11th smallest by population. Their capital happens to be the highest capital city in Europe at 1,023 meters. It is known for their ski resorts and duty-free shopping and is a tax haven.
Rosi booked this hotel for us and it was so fantastic! They had not gotten a lot of snow yet this season and the temperatures were in the 50s when we were there.
Hotel Nordic was immaculate, the food was fantastic and it was a great ski out and ski in location at El Tartar. They conveniently had a ski shop right outside the hotel and the lift was right there!
The first night we went bowling in their arcade area in the lower level. So fun! They also had a great hot tub and pool which we didn't use.
Our hotel had a half board which included the stay, breakfast and dinner. The buffet was out of this world! Seriously! I have never seen so many high quality and delicious choices.
The next day we had breakfast and then went to the ski rental shop to get our equipment. They had lockers for us to use for overnight storage.
You can rent snowboards, skis and boots but also can rent jackets, pants, helmets and gloves. It was so reasonably priced! We paid $202 for 5 people for 2 days for skis, boots and poles. We brought our helmets from home.
Lift tickets were $65 a day.
Although we experienced a lot of icy conditions, we had a great time. It was also crowded in areas because a lot of the Grandvalira ski resort was closed due to conditions.
Rosi is an awesome guide to European skiing and was able to navigate the slopes for us for directions.
The lobby of the hotel. These cars were amazing!
Day 2 of skiing!
We decided to ski until early afternoon because we had a 4 hour drive to Vinarós.
Nordic E-sport shop.
Front of hotel
Driving through Andorra
