Photo ops on the way to Glacier Point
By mid-day you not only experience very full parking lots but a lot of tour buses too. The beauty outshined sharing the view with SOOO many other people!
After taking a lunch break at Glacier Point we drove though the Joaquin Valley to Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon.
Growing up a farm girl, I found these fields with plants and trees mesmerizing on the drive! We get a lot of our food from California and it is amazing to see where it comes from.
Quickly the farm field valleys turned into rocky outcroppings, mountains and trees once again.
In the distance is one of the largest sequoia groves. It is hard to appreciate their mammoth size so far away.
We stayed just in between the parks in the national forest in a family camp called "Montecito Lake Resort". It has a small private lake with canoes, kayaks and paddleboats, swimming pool and hot tub, tennis and basketball courts, playground and a buffet of food for meals. It was a dream come true for the kiddos. They have weekly family camps offered starting mid June and they sounded like so much fun. Kids stay doing archery, crafts, misc activities and horse back riding with the counselors while parents hike during day. They convene in the evening for family fun, wine and smores. The girls are already begging for a family camp week but this trip brought us to see and hike in the forests of the world's biggest trees by mass...the Sequoia!
We arrived just in time to check in and for dinner!
