Sunday, July 15th...ocean fun!

Waiting patiently to go into the ocean
Searching for pretty rocks and shells and then handing them to Daddy...
 Loving the surf!
If you go about 8 feet out, you hit a sandbar that you can stand on.  The water comes up above your waist and you bob up and down with the waves.  Isabelle thought it was very exciting!
Run to the sea and then when a big wave hits...run away!  The ocean waves are very strong and will knock you right off your feet and then when you factor in how the sand shifts and the danger of rip currents it can be very scary!  Isabelle and Allie were very careful, but Juliette would constantly be on the move.  One of us was always nearby and she kept us very very busy!!!!
Outer Banks consists of about 200 miles of long narrow islands off the coast of North Carolina.  The water temperature ranged from the mid 60s to low 70s with air temperatures in the 90s and humidity!  The Wright Brothers flew their first powered "airplane" just south of Kitty Hawk in Kill Devil Hills.

 Grandpa and Juliette

The sea oats you see behind Allie grow wild all over the sand dunes and help provide stability and along with the fences help prevent erosion.

Feeling the sand on her hand.
 A surfer
Juliette gives her best stance.  She kept watching the boogie boarders and surfers in the water and then I found her posing like this and when the surf would hit her feet she would fall down, splash around and say "whoa", and then run out to the water to do it again and again.  It was hilarious!

Our condo had many amenities like racquetball, tennis, fitness center and a pool among many things.  The girls loved the opportunity to swim after the beach.  Usually I would take the 2 older girls to the pool while Juliette napped.  It so happened that Grandpa also needed a nap at the same time!  :)
My little swimmer.
