Trevi Fountain
It is the largest Baroque fountain in the city dating back to the 18th century. It is also one of the most famous fountains in the world!
You are to throw a coin using your right hand over your left shoulder to ensure your return to Rome one day. An estimated 3,000 euros are thrown in each day and it is said it is used for the poor.
We scheduled a cooking class at the Piazza Navona. It included making pasta and tiramisu.
A few drinks before we start.
All you need is 100 g flour
1 egg
Salt
Once it is ready you only have to cook for 2 minutes in boiling water since it is fresh!
We all got to pick out which sauce we wanted for our dish.
After our pasta we each made tiramisu.
This is the recipe for 2-3 people
1 egg (pasteurized)
2 tbsp white sugar
8 lady fingers biscuits
4-5 tbsp of mascarpone
strong coffee
unsweetened cocoa powder
Step 1: make coffee and cool
Step 2: separate the egg whites from the yolks. Set aside the yolks and whip the egg whites until stiff. remember that to white egg whites to stiff peaks, there should be no trace of yolk. once ready, set aside.
Step 3: Beat up the egg yolks in a bowl, adding the sugar, and keep mixing it until light and smooth (usually 3-4 minutes)
Step 4: Pour the mascarpone cheese into a bowl and work it with a spoon to make it softer. Mascarpone must be high quality, creamy and thick. When yolks are ready add them to the mascarpone cheese and mix them well.
Step 5: After 2-3 minutes of beating the mascarpone cheese with the egg yolks (you can do with a mixer), add the stiffly beaten egg whites
Step 6: mix with wooden spoon, from the bottom up. Mix slowly until smooth and creamy.
Step 7: get a dish, make the layers by dipping one by one the ladyfingers in the coffee. Don't leave for too long or it will get soggy. When the first layer of ladyfingers is ready, you cover with cream you made.
Then repeat. Layer ladyfingers, then cream. Sprinkle with cocoa powder on top.
Refrigerate to set.
This caricature of our family is pretty amazing!
Capitoline Museum
Capitoline Hill is one of the seven hills of Rome
ruins
It is incredible to think of what ruins remain on the streets we are walking on.
A glimpse of the Colosseum
The door to our apartment. It was a great space and in an excellent location. The one big thing is that it was up 4 floors without an elevator!
