It was a gorgeous day in Montreal! We had breakfast at our hotel. It was in a great location and was close to Old Town and next to McGill University. We walked toward Old Town and we stopped by Lafayette bakery for croissants and other delicious pastries! Yum!
First stop, the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal.
The girls love Orangina and guzzled it down while we were waiting in line.
It is a gorgeous church. It was founded in 1642 and has undergone renovations and reconstruction over the years. The Baroque style construction was completed from 1672-1683. Along the way, a larger church was needed and the twin towers was finished in 1841. New chapels were commissioned and built along the way and in 1978 a fire damaged the chapel. The new one was opened in 1982.
Old Town in Montreal truly feels like you have stepped into a quaint, old European city. It was exciting for the girls listen and to order in French in restaurants. Everyone was so nice and pleasant. The city was brimming with tourists and locals. Rue Saint-Paul has great little shops of all types.
Old Port
The girls love watching street performers and were intrigued and a little freaked out when he gestured for them to join him on his pedestal after giving him some coins.
We walked to la Diperie after recommendations and it didn't disappoint! It was delicious and unique!!!! It is a vanilla ice cream cone and you have about 50 choices of coatings and even more toppings. So good!
After all that filling ice cream we took a walk up to Mont Royal area. The girls ran around on the grassy area and we had a great view of the city!
The street our hotel was located on was lined with flags.
This is taken at the penthouse of our hotel. Such a pretty view of Montreal at dusk.
The girls swam on the top floor with great views all around after dinner.
A gorgeous view at night.
