We left Hartford and traveled to Pennsylvania. It took about 5 hours or so. We went through some intense rain storms and as we pulled into Hershey's Chocolate World the skies were menacing. We had timed tickets and so we had to get there! We pulled out our rain jackets as umbrellas would be pretty useless with the wind. We ran through the parking lot getting absolutely soaked in the torrential rain!
I got tickets online and our first activity was the 4D movie.
We then did the Chocolate Tasting Experience where we tried the 4 chocolates shown, got to vote on what flavors we tasted and tried the cacao beans as well.
To taste, you first look and examine the chocolate and see the color and uniformity. Then, you break it and listen to the sound it makes. You smell the chocolate and then you place on your tongue and let it melt. We realized that the Hershey's chocolate bar actually has a very cheesy flavor which they attribute to the fresh milk that it is made with!
We then waited in line for the ride. It was so busy!
The girls had a great time with creating their own candy bar!
At our designated time we chose which type of chocolate we wanted (dark, milk or white), decided on what to put in it (pretzels, chocolate chips, toffee bits, sprinkles or cookie bits). Your specialized chocolate bar took a trip on the conveyor and you could watch your bar being made step by step.
