This week we had to say good-bye to our beloved feline, Erwin. He became very ill suddenly and after an "intensive" stay at the vet, we realized that there was really nothing we could do for him except end his suffering. We suspect it was congestive heart failure and cats can mask their symptoms for quite some time. It was a sad sad week and watching Isabelle's raw emotion just ripped my heart apart. Erwin and her were buddies. He would often wait for her to come home from school and they would take turns chasing each other around the house. I would find them cuddled up at night. She knew where his favorite spot to be petted was. She loved him with her whole heart. He was a cat that was one-of-a-kind, tolerant of children, intelligent and adored by even people that didn't even like cats. Lizzy (our kitten) truly is lost without him. She wanders from room to room in search of her big brother. They were great playmates. We know that Erwin is in a better place, but man, we will miss him.
